As a photographer, I use many tools everyday to help my business run. One of those tools SmugMug, a client proofing site for photographers. I have used SmugMug for over 2 years and so far am happy with the platform as a whole. Here is my small list of pros and cons on using SmugMug.
As a photographer, I seek inspiration from everywhere. When I was first starting out, I was seeking for that information in the wrong places. Some advice I received was not always good. I attended a local Meetup where I thought I was learning proper lighting techniques. At the end of a few classes, I realized that while the teacher was incredible smart, their methods were very outdated. There is nothing wrong with this but it didn’t fit my style nor was it the most up to date information.
So I decided to round up my favorite photography lessons that I still use to this day. Below you will find a mix of blogs, video courses and more from some of my favorite photographers. I hope you check them out as they have taught me so much in the world of photography!
Prime locations are a hot commodity in the photographer world. They are even hotter when you live in an area where the market is over saturated and the locations are sometimes less than desired.
I have had several shoots where I will be shooting in my favorite location only to find a group of new portrait enthusiasts slowly taking over my spot. Now, I am not stingy about my locations. Instead, I share them freely because what you do with a location looks completely different from how I would use it. I also share my locations to give you better options to fit your session better. If we share our locations, maybe we won’t be standing on top of each other at the next photo shoot we plan.
So that brings me to this posts topic: Location scouting in an over saturated market.
As a photographer, I am always looking for ways to make my next photoshoot unique and special. The Charlotte market is a little oversaturated so I need to step up my game and stand out. So how do I do that?
I research until my face fall off. This goes beyond Google. Below are the 3 main sources of inspiration for every photoshoot.
