I’m back! Did you miss me? I spent a few weeks getting back into the swing of things as well as taking a vacation to beautiful St. Lucia. I’ll write a personal blog about that sometime in the near future but right now we are talking about publication!
I honestly thought that this whole blog series would end at Part 1 but alas, we are here at Part 2. The Alchemist Magazine published my editorial in the Decades issue that came out this past Friday. It is a bit surreal to see my work in print. Never thought I’d see the day.
The editorial can be seen at MagCloud but you have to purchase it to see it.
This editorial is about my mother who died from brain cancer almost 3 years ago. She was a very tormented woman but I wanted to memorialize her youth. Everyone I spoke with regarding her younger years seemed to love my mother dearly. They said she was a wild one but she was full of life. I have seen photos of her and I can see what they were talking about. I wanted to capture her youth and aloofness but I also wanted to update the images a bit with some updated pieces from Free People and Kimchi Blue (found at Urban Outfitters). Kristin was the perfect model because of her eye color. My mother had the brightest blue eyes I’ve ever seen and when I met with Kristin over the winter, I was in awe of her blue eyes. I had to use her for this editorial. My mother had a love for ACDC, beaded headbands, the color red, and photography. God rest her soul.
When the printed version is delivered to my house, I’ll take a cheesy photo and post it here. 🙂
Should I try again? Could I possibly get lucky a 2nd time? We shall see….
